Pickens County was formed in 1826. It was named after Andrew Pickens, a leading military figure in the American Revolution and member of the United States Congress. Cities and towns in Pickens County include Arial, Central, Clemson, Easley, Liberty, Norris, Pickens (County Seat) and Six Mile.
We welcome you and invite you to enjoy taking a virtual tour of Pickens County.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 512 square miles (1,326 km²), of which, 497 square miles (1,287 km²) of it is land and 15 square miles (39 km²) of it (2.92%) is water. The county also contains the highest point in South Carolina, Sassafras Mountain, with an elevation of 3560 feet (1085 m). With Hartwell Lake in Clemson, Lake Keowee in Six Mile, Table Rock Mountain and Sassafras Mountain in northern Pickens County, it is easy to see why Pickens County is called "Lake and Mountain Country."
